Hollywood Undead // 02 Academy (Glasgow): 24 January 2018

Hollywood Undead came back to the United Kingdom this month with their own headline tour with support from The One Hundred from London, England. We managed to see them in Glasgow on the first night of the tour (24th January 2018) and are happy to share our thoughts on the show.

The One Hundred as the only support act for the show was first to go on the stage, with many people not knowing who they were it was difficult to warm up the crowd. However, this did not stop them from having fun on stage and dancing about and seeming to be in their own bubble. With the crowd not sure what to make of them they continued by playing songs from their new album as well as some of their older music. It was difficult to really know what to think of their set as they played fast jumpy songs then slow songs every once in a while making the set sort of jumpy instead of as smooth as it could have been. However, this was a great opening act which is a band that we should all be keeping an eye on.

Next it was time of the headliners themselves, Hollywood Undead. With the energy that they had on the stage mixed with their masks on for the first few songs before taking them off the audience was captivated and throwing the energy back at them by jumping about and singing along to every word they sang. At one point their new drummer got the microphone and started singing "Living On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi who's vocals were out of this world and had the crowd singing along and also in shock that the drummer was able to sing as well as he could. The staging itself also wowed the crowd with them having pyrotechnics behind them adding to the experience of the show. As their set went on they started to play older songs which everyone knew as well as ones from their new album Five making older fans as well as newer ones able to join in with the music and have fun while knowing at least a couple of songs. One thing I really liked about their set was that they brought two of their fans onto the stage and had a small guitar battle and the winner got to play guitar for one of their songs making the night of the fan as well as showing that they really are a band that loves their fans. Overall, they were an amazing headline band and one that has a lot of fun on stage and makes the audience have fun with them.

Overall, this was a show which we are glad we did not miss and one that everyone could have had fun at as it seemed more like a party than an actual live show!
