Black Veil Brides // 02 Academy (Glasgow) : 25 January 2018

As Black Veil Brides and Asking Alexandria do an American and European co-headline tour, I managed to catch them in Glasgow, Scotland with support from To The Rats and Wolves on the 25th of January 2018. As a result of this I decided to review the show and say my thoughts on all three bands and the set that they produced.

The first band on the bill was To The Rats and Wolves which the audience did not know of. This made for an amazing opening act who managed to get the crowd jumping around and having an amazing time and joining in with the band singing along, clapping and dancing by having a very party atmosphere about them. With great clean and unclean vocals it was easy to make out what the band was singing about and made the audience know more about the band as a whole. As the first time they have ever been in the United Kingdom, I feel this band is one that will have a large following when they come back and are a band you do not want to miss live!!

Asking Alexandria was next on stage with old and new songs for all of their fans from their first album to their newest making everyone know at least one of their songs who went along to the show. As their set went on they done some acoustic songs as well with just Danny (vocalist) and Ben (guitarist) on the stage, which left the crowd very emotional and mesmerized by the music. When they did go back to the more heavier side of their music however they did have a projection of some of their older videos on a screen behind them showing just how far the band have came and having lyrics on the screen behind them which the audience was able to join in singing as well as lighting which helped to highlight the band. Asking Alexandria also had a laugh with each other on the stage and had a lot of fun on stage which showed really well to the audience, with them also acknowledging the crowd who was in the balcony and showing that they were just as important as those who were standing. This is a band I am glad I have now seen live and one that does not disappoint in their performance.

Finally, Black Veil Brides graced the stage. With their set not having as much energy as the other two it did make the room feel different from with the bands in which were before them however this did not stop them putting on a show for everyone. Having come out and mentioned about Glasgow's "here we" chant the crowd started chanting it and showed the band that the audience was there to have a good time. Having performed songs from their first album as well as playing a couple from their new album and all in between it was a good mixture of their music for all fans which they were able to sing along to. Like Asking Alexandria they also had a projection of some of their old videos as well as well as lyrics and lighting adding to the atmosphere around them and making the crowd feel more in the moment with them. Overall, it was a nice and clean set from them but left the audience wishing they had put some more of their energy into the set. Black Veil Brides were a good headline band however left the audience wanting more.

Overall, this was one of the best live shows I had been to in a while and one that made me fall in love with live music than I was before. If you get a chance to see them on this tour I would highly suggest going along as you will not regret it!
